Work History
I have 14 years of experience in the environmental consulting industry. In graduate school, I conducted a botanical inventory of 1,250 acres in southern Wake County. The assessment skills I learned in graduate school meshed with conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and environmental insurance audits during a year (1999 to 2000) with Quantum Environmental, Inc. While at Quantum, I was exposed to the UST assessment and remediation industry.
This allowed for a transition to SEI Environmental, Inc. in 2000, as their Phase I ESA person and cross-training as a field scientist in UST assessment and remediation. Within one year, I was managing all of their remediation systems. By 2003, I was a project manager and by 2005, I was senior project manager with a staff of 24 employees. In my nine years with SEI, I worked hundreds of sites at all phases of assessment and remediation.
In December 2008, SEI fell victim to the economic downturn and I seized the opportunity to create a new career path for myself as an independent contractor. Since then, I have worked closely with several companies as their on-demand employee providing report writing and field services. Contracts have ranged from Environmental Condition of Property reports for the Department of Defense, health and safety oversight of contractors at a brownfield redevelopment site which included fall prevention, oversight of closure activities for a hazardous waste storage facility, low flow groundwater sampling, soil sampling, and environmental records research.
